While files in PDF (Portable Document Format) format become more and more widespread these days, translators and translation agencies are faced, more often, with the need to work with this type of documents. In spite of the many advantages offered by the pdf format, such as easy creation, the possibility of using a free software (Adobe Reader) open them, content protection, etc., the files cannot be modified, we can only view them. The Winter Olympic Games are a multisport event celebrated every four years since 1924, under the monitoring of the International Olympic Committe.
The city of Vancouver was elected host city of the XXI Olympic Winter Games in 2010 at the 115th IOC Session in Prague, on 2 July, 2003. Eight cities applied to host the Games: Andorra la Vella (Andorra), Bern (Switzerland), Harbin (China), Jaca (Spain), PyeongChang (Republic of Korea), Salzburg (Austria), Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina) and Vancouver (Canada). This selection was a milestone in the history of the Winter Olympic Games, since many sports were played at sea level and Vancouver will be remembered as one of the warmest cities where the Winter Games took place.
