Vancouver 2010

Os Xogos Olímpicos de Inverno representan un evento de múltiples deportes de xeo y neve que se celebra cada catro anos desde 1924, baixo a organización do Comité Olímpico Internacional.

A cidade de Vancouver foi escollida como sede para os XXI Xogos Olímpicos de Inverno 2010 na 115ª sesión do COI en Praga, o 2 de xullo de 2003. Presentáronse oito cidades para albergar os Xogos: Andorra la Vella (Andorra), Berna (Suíza), Harbin (China), Jaca (España), Pyeongchang (República de Corea), Salzburgo (Austria), Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina) e Vancouver (Canadá). Esta elección marcou un fito na historia dos Xogos Olímpicos de Inverno xa que se xogaron numerosos deportes e, ademais, lembrarémonos de Vacouver como unha das cidades máis mornas onde se desenvolveron os Xogos.

Os XXI Xogos Olímpicos de Inverno celebrados entre o 12 e o 18 de febreiro de 2010 en Vancouver, Columbia Británica, reuniron aproximadamente a 2.600 atletas de 82 nacións que participaron en quince disciplinas: biatlón, bobsleigh, combinado nórdico, curling, esquí acrobático, esquí alpino, esquí de fondo, hockey sobre xeo, luge, patinaxe artístico, patinaje de velocidade en pista corta, patinaxe de velocidade, saltos de esquí, skeleton e snowboard.

Por primeira vez na historia, Canadá logrou o primeiro posto e bateu o record de medallas de oro obtidas en Xogos Olímpicos, que anteriormente conseguira a ex Unión Soviética en 1976 e Noruega en 2002 (13 medallas).

Antes do comezo dos Xogos xurdiron algunhas inquietudes e controversias que recibiron a atención da prensa. Unhas horas antes de la cerimonia inaugural, o atleta georgiano, Nodar Kumaritashvili, faleceu durante una sesión de entrenamento. Non obstante, os directivos concluíron que a morte se debeu a un erro do deportista e non a un erro da pista, polo que os Xogos continuaron a pesar dalgunhas críticas.

Entre o 12 e 21 de marzo, a cidade de Vancouver tamén será a sede dos Xogos Paralímpicos de Inverno 2010, onde participarán atletas con discapacidades físicas y visuais.

John Cobra ha sido el elemento discordante de esta selección para Eurovisión. En realidad se llama Mario Vaquero y es valenciano, rapero y expresidiario. Hasta la fecha era un desconocido, pero con esta nueva edición de Eurovisión 2010 se querido hacer mella. Y lo ha conseguido porque es de los más buscados en Internet.

Ya se había intentado presentar a Eurovisión el año pasado con otra canción, pero como la había publicado previamente en Youtube, fue descalificado. Este año se presentó con una canción llamada “Carol”, que estaba dedicada a su pareja actual.

El caso es que la discordia se inició en la gala de finalistas de Eurovisión porque el público allí presente comenzó a abuchear desde el primer momento a John Cobra, quien se perdió en medio de la canción, aunque consiguió retomarla. Finalmente, cuando terminó la canción, John Cobra si que respondió a la audiencia con gestos y frases desproporcionadas tanto para el momento como para la situación.

Quizás John Cobra tiene razón cuando dice que TVE lo ha tratado de manera diferente al resto de los participantes, ya que a él no le hicieron ni entrevista en el backstage ni nunca lo llegaron a aceptar completamente.

La controversia no solo la ha generado este personaje, sino otros como Karmele, que al parecer tenían expectativas de ganar.

Para los próximos años, TVE debería pensar de manera detenida en qué se está convirtiendo Eurovisión ya que, de forma general, parece que los que van a concursar van a ver “quien es el más friki”.  Deberían considerar si es la audiencia la que debe tener el poder de escoger quién nos representa o si debe ser alguien que entienda algo de música.

La verdad es que la última vez que ganamos fue hace más de 40 años, y a lo mejor eso quiere decir algo.

South Africa Futball World Cup

All Football World Cups have its representative hymn and for the 2010 Cup in South Africa, the chosen one was “Waving Flag”, which belongs to the Somalian producer, musician and poet K’naan. One of his songs had already been chosen in 2006 as part of the soundtrack for the videogame FIFA 06.

In the case of Latin America, the adjustments, translation and interpretation have been carried out so that David Bisbal can make good use of the composition. Which one do you think is better, the original o the translation?

South Africa 2010

Germany in 2006. Korea and Japan in 2002. France 1998. And now, right in 2010, less than 6 months to start: South Africa. This country will host the nineteenth FIFA World Cup, which will gather 32 national teams that will have to fight for victory as they did four years ago. This is the first time the tournament takes place in Africa and the fifth held in the Southern Hemisphere.

In general, South Africa has the necessary infrastructures and the travel distances between different cities are affordable, although it is noted that this World Cup has boosted the renewal that the country craved. In order to guarantee it, the South African government will invest more than 9000 million in new works and reforms.

On 9 February 2010 at 12.00 (CET) will begin the fourth phase of ticket sales, which will be one of the last chances for fans wishing to attend the upcoming World Cup that will last until 7 April 2010. Tickets can only be purchased through http://www.fifa.com/2010 or FNB branches (only for South African residents).

For this year 2010, the pet will be Zakumi, a leopard with green hair. The colours of this pet are green and yellow as the colors of the South African flag. The spots of Zakumi are the typical of soccer balls.
Probably many interpreters will be needed for this big football event which will concentrate in only one location a large number of languages. It will also require translators into various languages to translate pieces of news coming from that country, where the most important languages are Afrikaans and English, among many other typical local languages.
