Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sport events in the United States. This is the final game of the professional football league. With respect to marketing, it is usually the television event that has the highest audience throughout the year.
The advertisements that are created for the Super Bowl are globally recognised due to the enormous amounts of money that must be paid for advertising in this event. Half a minute of advertising costs about $2.5 millions.

Another of the interesting points of this event are the shows that are performed before and in the breaks of the Super Bowl, which have involved artists such as Michael Jackson, Sting, Sir Paul McCartney, U2, Shania Twain, Phil Collins…

Are these events interpreted? In 2003, Janet Maxwell signed for the deaf people the “God Bless America” and the national anthem. Even though she can hear, his parents are deaf.  Despite her youth, she has worked as an interpreter for presidents Bush (father and son), Clinton and the Secretary of State Colin Powell. She has interpreted for some actors and musicians as well.

In this case, fighting for the ultimate prize, were the teams New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts in the Sun Life Stadium in Miami (Florida). The game was held on 7 February 2010 and the CBS broadcast it.
What is the origin of the Super Bowl?

It is a play on words in English, which translated literally into Spanish means “super copa”. Apparently, Lamar Hunt created that name and he was the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs. He said he thought of this name when he saw his daughter playing with a rubber ball that was called Super Ball. Hence, he invented the term that now refers to this event, because in English the words “ball” and “bowl” sound quite similar.
