March 5th, 2010Google and HTC team up to bring the Nexus One to the market
Google for Translators
After all the rumours circulating through the network, on 5 January this year, Google launched its new Google Nexus terminal, revolutionizing all forms of mobile telephony, since its objective is to create a single tool that unites web resources and mobile telephony.
To achieve this, they have worked closely with a Taiwanese giant manufacturer: HTC. This new terminal is equipped with a powerful operating system, Android 2.1, has 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM and uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 processor at a speed of 1 GHz. Another of its features is the 5-Mpx camera with autofocus and LED flash, which is used with the screen of 3.7 “WVGA type Amole. It also supports GPRS / EDGE / GSM / HSDPA / HSUPA networks.
Translators can also use the different applications available for the Nexus One in the Android Market. From there we can get dictionaries, automatic translators, etc.. Over time, new applications will be developed; sure they become very useful for translators.
Another key element of the terminal is speech recognition, which is implemented throughout the system, so that we can use it in our GPS navigator or in the new Google Earth.
What differentiates Nexus One from its main competitor, the iPhone?
Among the main features the Nexus One has:
- Thiner and more lightweight
- Better camera (5MP)
- Video recordings in high definition
- Longer duration battery
- AMOLED screen with higher resolution (480 x 800 px)
- Faster processor
- You can integrate memory cards (it will be sold with a 4GB Micro SD card, but compatible with cards up to 32 Gb).
The price
After so much speculation, we know the final price of the Nexus One is in the U.S., but we will have to wait to discover what it will cost this mobile phone in Spain. Currently, the terminal is available only in USA, Singapore, the UK and Hong Kong. For now, the prices that Google has determined are different depending on which option we consider:
1 .- Unlocked Nexus One: 530 $ (369.65 €).
2 .- Nexus One with T-Mobile: 180 $ (125.52 €).
In Europe, the terminal will be available this spring by Vodafone.
